The online gallery for Dennis Perrin Fine Art. Dennis Perrin can best be described as a painter of light as it illuminates and describes the subject. Mr. Perrin always chooses to paint in front of the subject, not content to settle for photography or video as painting material. Dennis has been called an American Impressionist Painter in the Boston School tradition, and that is not surprising since among his greatest influences are the American Painters John Singer Sargeant, Edmund Tarbell, and Frank Benson, as well as the French painter Henri Fantin-Latour. Other major influences have been Diego Velasquez, Johannes Vermeer,  Thomas Dewing, Maxfield Parrish, Joseph DeCamp, and so many others.

Under the Summer Sun

Dennis Perrin

This week, more of the same, as I spent time at the Lily Pond with my beautiful model, Aimee, again on the Lutyens Bench. This time, for several reasons, one of which was artistic interest, I placed her under a canopy. And the effects of the warm light as they bounced off the foliage and into the cool shadows was of particular interest to me. As this dance of color and temperature swirled across the creamy, luscious whites of the bench, I found myself beguiled by the challenge of capturing the phenomenon. With Aimee donning a swirling mauve dress, as the bedazzling flesh tones shimmered, I let my brush follow my intuition as we co-created this week's only completed piece: "Under the Canopy,"  oil on canvas, 18" x 24."

We have another major figurative piece underway which should be ready by next week's post. In the meantime, enjoy the beautiful August weather (if you're in a temperate climate), and tune in next week. Have a great fun-filled week!
