The online gallery for Dennis Perrin Fine Art. Dennis Perrin can best be described as a painter of light as it illuminates and describes the subject. Mr. Perrin always chooses to paint in front of the subject, not content to settle for photography or video as painting material. Dennis has been called an American Impressionist Painter in the Boston School tradition, and that is not surprising since among his greatest influences are the American Painters John Singer Sargeant, Edmund Tarbell, and Frank Benson, as well as the French painter Henri Fantin-Latour. Other major influences have been Diego Velasquez, Johannes Vermeer,  Thomas Dewing, Maxfield Parrish, Joseph DeCamp, and so many others.

I Promised You a Rose Garden

Dennis Perrin

The classic song never promises a rose garden, nor do I. But I am doing my best to make a case for the eternal beauty of a rose by expressing my understanding of that beauty through paint. This week I had the pleasure of discovering and painting, for the first time, the newest David Austin rose, "Keira." Subtle, creamy, with just a hint of blush, the cascading petals and delightful flaring outer petals make "Keira" a seductive, delicious siren of a rose. I chose a simple, straightforward placement and lighting, and did my best to carefully observe this dandy as I translated my vision into paint. Decide for yourself about the outcome, but I thoroughly enjoyed the process. Here's "Keira" in all her glory:

Some Special News!

Two big new projects loom on the horizon, and I really wanted to share them with you so you can look forward, with me, to their full realization.

First, I'm working this week with my daughter, Camille Giglio, to develop a series of online courses, each with a different subject matter or theme in order to reach out and share with you my painting method. I've had numerous requests to travel to distant locations to teach workshops, and those plans are in the works. But I want to make available, as soon as possible, a practical way to begin showing you, and all who are interested, how to create masterful paintings that express your particular interpretation in a way that will make your heart sing. I will make the announcement as soon as they are ready. Stay tuned.

Secondly, my beautiful wife, Aimee, and I have been developing a vision for the amazing property on which we live, and we're prepared to share that with you. The Joyful Living Center is a full blown retreat center primarily centered on the arts, for the purpose of allowing the individual to gain mastery over the tools and techniques of their chosen craft in an environment that is both nurturing and stimulating. The year round center will feature retreats and workshops for fine artists, musicians, writers, and more, and is located on a very special property in Southern Maine that has deep historical roots. We embrace the arts as a perfect vehicle for the empowerment of the individual, conveying the knowledge and the principles whereby we create our own reality. We welcome any and all inquiries and investors!

Have a wonderful week and happy painting!
